The field artillery of the first half of the 15th century was a weapon still searching for its form. Barrels were forged from iron rods drawn together with hoops or cast from bronze, lay in a simple wooden bed, and aiming was done by turning the whole piece rather than by fine adjustment. Stone or iron balls were fired, the powder was tamped on the spot and a long while passed between two shots. Even so, this equipment already decided the fate of sieges and appeared more and more often in the open field as well.
The qualifier in the name refers to the Teutonic Order, whose possessions lay in Prussia and in the Baltic and whose army was among the best equipped in this part of Europe at that time. The set therefore fits into scenes from the campaigns and sieges of the late Middle Ages.
For builders of medieval dioramas, for collectors of figures in 1:72 and for players of tabletop battles whose formation is missing artillery support. The work is fine, so tweezers and good light are worth having. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
