An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian Ducati 1199 Panigale S superbike in the striking Tricolore finish in 1:12 scale from Tamiya. The model faithfully captures a modern sports motorcycle with a well rendered engine, frame and wheels. The box offers decals and masking templates for the colors of the Italian tricolor, a metal spring for the shock absorber, metal-effect decals for the mirror surfaces, a folding side stand and a separate rear paddock stand. The side panels are screwed on and can be removed even after the model is finished.
The Ducati 1199 Panigale S was a revolutionary superbike for the marque, with an L-twin engine of about 1198 cc that forms a load-bearing element of the structure (a monocoque) and carries the rear swingarm directly. The Tricolore finish wears the colors of the Italian flag, that is red, white and green, to mark the anniversary of Italian unification. The Panigale is among the technically most advanced production motorcycles of its day and is a rewarding subject for collectors.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish the frame, the engine and the exhaust before you fit the bodywork. Apply primer before painting and lay the colors on with an airbrush; the enclosed masking templates make the tricolor easier, and a gloss clear coat finishes the bodywork at the end. The metal spring and the metal-effect decals give a realistic look of metal; apply the decals over a gloss surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
