This injection-molded plastic kit captures a North Sea fishing trawler. The box contains parts for a detailed hull, deck superstructure, masts, a double winch, lifeboats and rafts, radar masts, figures and decals including a version with the markings of a particular vessel. The model is built from individual parts and is supplied unpainted. The manufacturer gives it in 1:142 scale.
Motor trawlers fishing in the harsh waters of the North Sea were for decades the backbone of European fishing. Their sturdy hull, prominent forward superstructure and raked masts with nets make them characteristic and rewarding vessels. The model represents a typical postwar fishing trawler.
The hull can be built as a full hull or as waterline; sand the hull joints carefully. Paint the deck and the superstructure separately and liven them up with washes so that the details come out. Use the enclosed thread for the rigging and the lines. The model shows to advantage on a stand; render the rust and salt weathering with pigments and stippling.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
