The set 1:16 U.S. tanker helmets WWII holds a pair of resin American tanker helmets in the large scale, intended to complete figures or a vehicle interior.

Helmets belong among the accessories that make an enormous difference in a diorama: a helmet thrown down on a fender, on an ammunition crate or in the hand of a resting soldier tells you at once that the vehicle has a crew. This set brings two castings in 1:16 scale, that is in the size where every rivet and the stitching of the leather rim are visible.
The American crew helmet introduced at the end of the 1930s was not armored and gave no protection against projectiles. It grew out of helmets for American football and had a single job: to save the head from a knock against the walls and edges of a jolting vehicle. The shell of pressed leather and vulcanized fiber had large openings for the ears at the sides, into which the headphones of the intercom were fitted, and a row of ventilation holes on top and along the sides. Drivers and commanders wore it with goggles pulled up above the visor; they put a steel helmet on only outside the vehicle.
It is a good idea to lay the undercoat in olive green, to set the leather of the rim and the strap apart in brown and to draw the whole together with a dark toning, so that the ventilation holes stand out. Dust is applied with pigments to the lower edges. The castings are attached with cyanoacrylate glue; a small drop of the gel version will let you adjust the position for a while longer.
It is an accessory that does not make up a model of a vehicle or a figure on its own.
