A large-format injection-molded kit of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback in 1:24 scale from Trumpeter captures the early version of the legendary American fighter with its characteristic high fuselage spine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in the attractive large 1:24 scale from Trumpeter represents the early razorback form of the P-47D fighter, with the raised fuselage spine behind the cockpit. The box holds richly broken-down parts with finely engraved panel lines and riveting, clear parts including a transparent engine cowling for a view of the radial engine, a photo-etched fret and painting masks.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was among the heaviest and most powerful single-engine piston fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by the air-cooled eighteen-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine of around 2000 hp, with a turbocharger housed in the rear fuselage. The razorback designation belongs to the early version with the high fuselage spine, before the later change to a bubble canopy. The armament was eight .50 caliber machine guns; the type proved itself as an escort fighter and as a fighter-bomber in Europe and in the Pacific alike.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and bond the photo-etched items with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting. The large fuselage and wing surfaces look best sprayed with an airbrush, whether as a natural metal finish or as an opaque olive and gray camouflage. Pick out the panel lines with a fine wash. The transparent cowling lets you keep the view of the finely rendered engine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
