About product

A colored interior of the forward avionics bays of the AH-64A in 1:35

The set from Quinta Studio supplies the equipment of the forward avionics bays of the AH-64A Apache attack helicopter in 1:35 scale, rendered beforehand in color. This is not the complete interior of the machine but a targeted accessory for one particular area of the fuselage, completed with resin elements. The extent of the set corresponds to that, compared with the full interior sets of the same brand. It is based on the dimensions of the Trumpeter kit.

What the avionics bays are

On both sides of the forward part of the Apache fuselage there are compartments accessible through large hinged covers, in which the electronics are housed. The designers deliberately laid them out so that a technician could reach the individual units without a platform and without dismantling the surrounding parts - with a machine reckoning on operation from field stations that was an essential requirement. The covers can be swung down and serve at the same time as a working surface. That is precisely why the bays appear so often in photographs from maintenance, and why modelers like to open them.

How to make use of the set

Open bays call for modification of the base kit: the covers are cut off and thinned, so that they do not have an unrealistic thickness. Unify the inside of the compartment with a coat of spray, and only then fit the colored parts - under them there should be no more spraying. Choose soft lighting for the scene when photographing, otherwise the detail will be lost in a deep bay.

Who the accessory is meant for

  • Modelers building the Apache with the service covers open
  • Makers of dioramas with ground personnel by the machine
  • Builders who want detail without painting small instruments
  • Those interested in American attack helicopters in the largest common scale

The accessory set does not replace the Apache kit - that is bought separately, as are the paints.

FAQ

No. The set concentrates on the forward avionics bays. The complete interior of the cockpits is offered by the maker as separate items.

Yes. The service covers have to be cut off and thinned, otherwise they would look unrealistically thick when swung down.

They house the electronics. The large hinged covers allow maintenance directly at a field station, without a lifting platform and without taking apart the surrounding parts of the fuselage.

For the Trumpeter kit in 1:35 scale. The base kit is not part of the package.
