The Crusader is a British cruiser tank of the beginning of the Second World War, associated above all with the fighting in North Africa. It built on speed and a low silhouette, but the armor and the armament lagged behind that: the early version carried an anti-tank gun of 40 mm caliber, that is a weapon which gradually ceased to be enough against the later German machines. Typical of the early form is the small additional machine-gun turret beside the driver's station, which later versions no longer had. On the real vehicle a number of elements are of thin sheet, mainly the fenders, the covers and the grilles, and in a plastic kit those necessarily come out thicker than the scale corresponds to.

The designation Part 1 distinguishes this item from further sets for the same subject. The parts are cut out of the fret, bent along the etched score lines and fitted to the model; the extent of the fret and the placement of the individual parts are given by the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off with a sharp knife on a hard surface; breaking them out will twist them. Bend long thin strips in a bending tool for photo-etched metal or against the edge of a steel ruler, and lead the pressure along the whole length of the bend at once. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; glue for polystyrene does not hold on it. Before painting, wash the fret, degrease it and coat it with a primer, otherwise the shade rubs off bare metal during ordinary handling of the model.
For modelers of British vehicles who object to coarse plastic fenders and covers and want to move a model toward a scale thickness of sheet. Working with photo-etched metal wants tweezers, a sharp blade and calm, but on a finished model the difference is visible at first glance. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
