1:35 Engine M-10 is a resin engine with photo-etched sheet for a model of the American M10 tank destroyer. It serves to open up the engine compartment on the base model. Intended for the Academy kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains castings of cast resin and photo-etched sheet. It replaces the closed rear of a plastic model of the M10 with a faithful engine compartment, which can be shown with the covers opened on a vehicle on display. This is an accessory, not a kit in its own right; the modeler obtains the base model separately. The target kit is Academy.
The American M10 tank destroyer arose in 1942 on the chassis of the M4A2 Sherman medium tank and was powered by a pair of coupled General Motors diesels. The sloped armor plates and the open turret with a 3-inch gun matched the American doctrine of the day, according to which tank destroyers were to arrive quickly at a threatened sector of the front. It fought in Tunisia, in Sicily, in Italy and in northwestern Europe, and the British derived a rearmed version of their own from it.
First rid the castings of the remnants of mold release agent and cut off the sprue gates. The engine block is assembled away from the model, so that all its walls can be reached, and it is painted before being set into the hull; once it is closed up, a hand no longer reaches it. Cyanoacrylate glue holds resin and metal reliably; when sanding, work with protection of the airways.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
