Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etched components to refine a model of the amphibious Ford G.P.A. cross-country car at 1:35 size. An open vehicle has nowhere to hide thick plastic, so every rim, grab handle and grille counts. The set is meant to be fitted to a plastic model, which is sold separately. The target kit is Tamiya.
The vehicle was created in 1942 as an amphibious counterpart of the famous light cross-country car. It received an enclosed hull-shaped body with a boat bow, a propeller driven off the gearbox and a rudder. The soldiers called it the Seep. On water it was slow and uncertain in a swell, so it never really took hold in the American army; a large part of the production therefore went to the Soviet Union under Allied aid, and there it proved itself in crossing rivers during the advance westward.
With a vehicle without a roof the viewer looks over the whole interior, so assemble and paint the crew space before you fit the external rims. Level the photo-etched components in advance on a smooth board, as a slightly bowed part in an open space catches the eye at once. Build the water weathering from the bottom up: first a band of deposit on the hull, then splashes higher up.
Supplied unpainted and without fasteners, and the kit is not part of the price.
