A figure of a German soldier loading ammunition, 1:35 scale, suitable for scenes with the resupply of military vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replenishing ammunition was among the most strenuous and least rewarding parts of service in an armored unit. Rounds for a gun of 7.5 centimeter caliber weighed around ten kilograms with the cartridge case, and very nearly ninety of them went into a medium tank. The crew passed them in a chain through the hatch, and before the vehicle was full a long while had gone by, during which the machine went nowhere.
A figure in motion, caught with a load in its hands, gives a diorama action. Stood by an open hatch, by a flatbed truck with crates or by a heap of empty containers, it explains at once what is happening in the scene, without anything further needing to be spelled out. It works well in a pair with a second figure that takes the load.
A resupply scene will do with a small area: a piece of field track, the rear of a vehicle, a few crates and scattered straw. Watch out that the hands of the figure really point where they should, which is why it is recommended to stand the assembly on the surface dry first and only then glue anything.
With a figure that is carrying something, it is the tension of the cloth that decides. The folds on the back and in the armpit run differently from those on a standing figure, and the shadow therefore has to be laid along the pull, not along the usual vertical. The face will take a slightly reddened tone on the cheeks and the forehead, which hints at the effort, and sleeves rolled up above the elbows give away that the work has been going on for a while.
