An Italian officer of the Azzurro battalion is a figure in 1:35 scale from Royal Model: a subject from the Italian army of the Second World War that is hard to find elsewhere in the modeling range.
Responsibility details are not available.
A separate figure in the 1:35 format from the Italian production of Royal Model. It depicts an officer of the Italian armed forces in the kit of the Second World War; the designation of the battalion is taken over from the name of the product. Given that Italian subjects tend to be thinly represented in the modeling range, this figure is among the relatively rare accessories for builders of scenes with Italian units in the Mediterranean or in the east.
The officer's clothing of the Italian army differed markedly from the German and the British in cut as well as color. The soft side cap, a canvas jacket for a warm climate with large patch pockets, breeches and high boots or puttees were all characteristic. The gray-green shade that was called grigioverde had a markedly different tone from German field gray, and in a diorama the eye notices that at once.
Do not mix the shade of the uniform from German colors; the result would be too cool, as Italian gray-green has a noticeable shift toward olive. The rank markings of the Italian army were worn on the shoulder straps and on the cap, which are two small areas to pay the greatest attention to. The figure comes into its own superbly beside Italian vehicles, but also as a counterpart to German figures in a shared scene.
No painting has been done; a base and accessories are not supplied with the figure, unless stated otherwise.
