The Carro Armato M13/40 was an Italian medium tank of the early 1940s and the most widespread machine of its class in the Italian army. It fought above all in North Africa, where its crews struggled with heat, dust and the cramped space inside the hull. That is exactly why in period pictures the tankers are seen outside on the vehicle or in its shade far more often than inside, and a scene with a figure by the tank therefore looks more natural than a model without a crew.
The package holds a figure of an Italian tanker in 1:35 scale, that is in the size matching ordinary kits of military equipment. It is conceived as an accessory to a model of a vehicle or for a diorama, where it will give the scene its scale and explain what is going on in it. How many parts the figure is made up of and how it is assembled is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut any excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back, and fill the seams at the shoulders and the waist with putty so that the clothing runs on. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Before painting, wash the figure, degrease it and seal it with a base color. Build the skin up from several thin layers and paint it separately from the clothing; it is on the face and the hands that it shows whether a figure is alive. Leave the clothing rather faded and dusty than saturated, and with crews fighting in the desert that goes double. Finally set the finished figure so that it leans against the vehicle or touches the ground.
The figure suits building dioramas with Italian equipment and bringing a display case to life where the tank alone looks empty. The model of the vehicle, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
