With the photo-etched set 1:35 MARDER III Ausf M - Part 1 from Royal Model the Marder III tank destroyer in the Ausf. M version gets metal details. This is the first part of a pair of sets.
Responsibility details are not available.
This steel fret from the Italian brand Royal Model is prepared for the late version of the German tank destroyer on the chassis of the former Czechoslovak tank. It is the first of two follow-on sets, which can be used separately as well as together. The metal parts replace molded elements and give a model a scale thickness of material.
The Ausf. M version arose by reworking the earlier modifications and brought a fundamental change of layout. The engine moved to the middle of the hull and the fighting compartment with the gun ended up at the rear, which lowered the silhouette and made the crew's work easier. The weapon was a 75 mm anti-tank gun, that is a weapon which on the Eastern Front dealt even with well-armored targets. The machines were built by a Prague factory and from 1943 they became an ordinary part of anti-tank detachments. A disadvantage remained in the crew compartment open at the top, protected only by a thin shield.
The open construction means that the inside will be visible, so finish and paint everything inside before you fit the shields. Hold the thin metal sheets of the shield along their whole length while bending, so that they do not twist. A dusty appearance is typical of these vehicles, but apply pigments sparingly, otherwise the rivets and bolts will be lost.
The kit of the vehicle is not part of this item.
