Reskit 1:35 Mi-8 Hip: weapon mounting frame with BD3-57KrV, EARLY version (USSR/Ukraine) is a 3D-printed set of two side weapon frames for the Trumpeter kit. It is not a kit of the helicopter; it is the accessory that turns a transport Mi-8 into an armed machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set is NOT a kit of the helicopter. It is a 3D-printed detail accessory from Reskit, containing 2 pieces, the left and right side weapon frame, that is, the complete truss structure for both sides of the fuselage. The set is shaped for the plastic Trumpeter kit in 1:35 scale. Besides the resin parts it also contains small photo-etched plates and self-adhesive templates for drilling the mounting holes in the fuselage.
The BD3-57KrV is a pylon, the rack from which armament is hung: unguided rocket pods, bombs and other weapon pods. On the Mi-8 the pylons are not mounted directly to the fuselage but to a truss frame on both sides, which carries three pylons on each side. The result is fundamental: a transport helicopter becomes an armed combat machine at a stroke, able to cover the troops it has carried. That is why the package holds two frames: the carriers are mounted symmetrically on the left and on the right.
Reskit offers two different versions of the same carrier for the same kit: the early version (USSR/Ukraine), which is this set, and the late Ukrainian version, which is a separate item. The difference lies in the finish and equipment of the frame according to the period and the operator of the machine. According to the manufacturer's instructions, the early version has an additional instrument box with a clear window on the carrier (made up of a resin body and a transparent part) that the late version does not contain; the other parts of the frame are very similar. Because the sets differ in detail, always compare photographic documentation of the particular machine you are building and choose the right variant accordingly, otherwise it is easy to end up with the other of the two. If you are building a later Ukrainian Mi-8, reach for the late version.
The frame is a delicate truss, so set aside some quiet time for it. The parts are not glued with cement for polystyrene models: use cyanoacrylate glue, and epoxy on the larger joints. Before painting, wash all the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry; print resin residue will reliably lift the paint. Cut the print supports off with a saw rather than snapping them. Sand wet, because inhaled resin dust is harmful to health. The thin struts and arms of the frame break easily, so fit them at the end of the build, after the fuselage has been painted.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a model of the helicopter: the base kit, the armament, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
