Photo-etched fenders in 1:35 scale for a model of the Panzer IV tank from the Dragon kit. Thin metal sheet replaces thick plastic parts and will take realistic denting as well.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panzer IV was a German medium tank of the Second World War and the only one that was built for German units in an unbroken run from the first fighting to the end of the war. It went through many versions, with changes in armament and armor. The fenders over the tracks were among the parts that suffered most in the field: they bent, they cracked and whole sections of them were often missing from the vehicles.
Photo-etched fenders in 1:35 scale intended for the Panzer IV kit from Dragon. Thin metal sheet matches the real thickness better than an injection-molded part, so the edges stay crisp and the profile slim. The extent of the parts and their placement on the model are in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are held to the fret by small tabs; cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface. Make the bends in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat pliers in one go along the whole length of the edge. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue in a minimal amount. It is with fenders in particular that it pays to treat yourself to a bent corner or a missing section, which immediately gains the model credibility. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer, otherwise you will strip the finish during handling.
For modelers who build German tracked vehicles in 1:35 scale and want to replace thick plastic with thin sheet on a conspicuous external part. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
