Figures of photographers with a camera and an equipment bag, cast in resin by the Italian brand Royal Model. In the maker's range, aimed mainly at military subjects, they are a welcome exception usable outside combat scenes as well.
A scene made up entirely of uniformed figures looks monotonous. A photographer caught at work, by contrast, gives the scene its action: it gives the viewer a clue where to look and explains why the other figures are standing just as they are. It comes into its own in military subjects in the role of a reporter and in civilian scenes too, by a railway station, in the street or around wrecked equipment. The usability is not tied to a single period, and what changes is mainly the cut of the clothing and the shape of the camera.
Both the camera and the bag are small, so paint them separately and attach them at the very end. Suggest the lens with a dark dot and a single light highlight and go over it with a drop of gloss varnish; nothing more is needed for glass to look like glass. The leather of the straps and cases will take a more saturated tone than a uniform, otherwise it is lost in civilian clothing. Suggest the camera strap slung over a shoulder with a thin band of paint drawn in one stroke.
Sold unpainted and in parts; the photographic equipment belongs with the figures, and the rest of the scenery does not.
