Photo-etched parts are made of thin metal sheet and replace on a model the elements that cannot be made in a matching thickness in injection-molded plastic. Grilles, sheet-metal covers, eyes, clips and brackets are in reality made of material a few millimeters thick, which in 1:35 scale is a tenth of a millimeter. A plastic part cannot carry such dimensions and has to be thicker, whereas photo-etched metal looks correctly thin when seen from the side. The difference shows mainly where a part is outlined against the sky or against a light background.
The set is cut to a kit from the brand Italeri, so the seating surfaces match the shapes of that kit. The abbreviation Sd.Kfz. in the name belongs to the German army designation of special motor vehicles; the number after it belonged to the type and the number after the slash distinguished its version. Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not break them out, as the sheet deforms at the joint. Make the bends on a bending tool or along a blade, and the edge will then come out straight along its whole length. For gluing, use cyanoacrylate glue in small drops applied with a pin; glue for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and spray it with a base color for metal, otherwise the shade rubs off during handling.
