1:35 SS Machine Gunner depicts an infantryman with a machine gun in field equipment. A resin casting in 1:35 scale for a diorama or for a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single figure of an infantryman with his weapon, cast in resin by the Italian maker Royal Model. Collectors build it as a display piece in its own right, and scene builders as an escort for armored equipment.
The machine gun was the central weapon in a German infantry platoon of the period and a squad was built around it, with the other men carrying ammunition and covering the move. The figure matches that idea: the man is caught in motion with the weapon ready for use, in field equipment with pouches and ammunition boxes. The camouflage patterns used by these units are among the technically most demanding subjects in figure modeling, because on a small surface they combine several shades at once.
Do not paint the metal parts in pure black: a dark gray base with a hint of graphite sheen on the edges looks more convincing. Tell the leather webbing and the pouches apart by saturation, not by hue. Build the camouflage pattern up from the lightest area to the darkest patch and simplify it at this reduction, otherwise the figure falls apart visually. Protect your breathing while sanding resin, as the dust is very fine.
Supplied unpainted, without a base and in parts for assembly.
