A photo-etched set in 1:35 scale for a model of the Steyr vehicle. Photo-etched parts are markedly thinner than the parts from a kit, so elements that cannot be done credibly in plastic stand out on them: grilles, handles, hinges, latches and similar small items. Which particular elements the set replaces and which kit it is made for is given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the package, so read them before you buy accessories.
The parts are cut or sliced from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, and never broken out. Make the bends over a straight edge, ideally in a bending tool or between two blades of a ruler, and bend in one movement. Sand the remains of the tabs flat. Join the assembly with super glue applied with a pin in minute drops; ordinary modeling cement has no effect on photo-etched parts.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the primer will not take. Use a thin primer from a spray can or an airbrush, as a heavy coat would fill the small shapes. It is better to paint after assembling smaller subassemblies, so that the bent parts do not deform. The finished elements do most for a model where a viewer sees them against the light, that is on the outline of the vehicle.
The set is for more experienced builders who have already worked with thin parts and who have a sharp tool, tweezers and super glue. A beginner is better off trying a simpler accessory first, as the work is delicate and calls for a steady hand.
