1:35 T-34 Fuel Boxes are resin external fuel boxes for a model of the Soviet medium tank. They are attached to the sides of the hull above the running gear.
Responsibility details are not available.
These resin castings stand in for the angular additional tanks that on the T-34 were hung on the outside of the hull sides. They complete or replace the parts of the basic plastic model and add sharper edges, straps with buckles and the texture of welded sheet. It is a small thing that catches the eye on a model at once, because it stands right on the outline of the vehicle.
The V-2 twelve-cylinder diesel gave the T-34 a decent range, but the Soviet formations counted on deep penetrations into the rear and the internal supply was not enough for that. Additional boxes therefore became ordinary equipment. In combat they were taken off or at least emptied, because a hit on a full tank meant a fire. Production went over to the angular shape during the war; earlier, cylindrical tanks were used. The placement at the rear along the sides of the hull was a compromise between the accessibility of the fuel and the risk that an unprotected supply represented.
The brackets tend to be only faintly suggested in plastic, so first check the position of the boxes against period photographs. Paint the tanks separately and fit them only after the main finish of the hull. You will suggest diesel running down the sheet with a glossy dark effect drawn from the top down. Set the straps and buckles apart with a darker tone; the metal on them rusted faster than the rest.
