Refining parts from the brand Royal Model for a model of the German Tiger I heavy tank in the form of the first production runs. The set is cut for the Academy kit, because under the same name the manufacturer also offers a version for a different kit.
The early Tigers got into action at the close of 1942 and can be told from the later machines at first glance. They carried a commander's cupola with vision slits, they had air filter extensions at the rear and they were equipped for fording deep water. The 8.8 cm gun was derived from an anti-aircraft gun and in 1943 it had practically no equal among Allied tanks. The price was a weight of over fifty tons, demanding maintenance and transport tracks that had to be changed before loading onto a railroad car.
Mark the bends out in advance and work against a firm edge. Attach the metal elements only once the plastic joints have cured, otherwise they will come off during sanding. Apply a thin coat of primer to the metal and the plastic at the same time; it unifies the surface. Zimmerit did not yet appear on the early machines, which simplifies preparing the surface.
The model itself, glues and paints have to be obtained separately.
