An injection-molded plastic kit of the American SCR-299 radio set in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. It is not a vehicle but a detailed signals equipment set meant as a diorama accessory. It holds richly detailed interior radio equipment, accessories and photo-etched parts for the finest details, so that a convincing command and signals setting can be built.
The SCR-299 was an American long-range mobile radio set used by the signal corps in the Second World War. It provided communication over long distances between command posts and units in the field and proved itself during operations on the Western Front. In a diorama it fills out the command and signals background and goes well with radio operator figures and other rear-area equipment.
Use thin plastic cement, glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue and separate the small parts carefully. Paint the interior equipment and the instruments before you close the assembly up. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal. Instrument panels, cables and dials repay fine detail painting and dark washes run into the recesses.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other scene elements are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
