A Waffen-SS tanker with binoculars is a 1:35 figure in polyurethane resin from Royal Model. The figure is captured in the act of observing through binoculars.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure of a German tanker of the Waffen-SS units, which the Italian manufacturer casts in high-quality polyurethane resin and which aims at a high level of detail. The manufacturer describes it as easy to assemble and recommends it to modelers from the age of fourteen. The figure holds the binoculars to its eyes, a pose that immediately suggests on a model that something is happening beyond the horizon.
Observing through binoculars from an open hatch was an everyday reality in the Second World War. A closed turret offered protection, but an overview of the battlefield was hard to get from it, so crews took the risk and rode with their heads out. That is exactly why a figure with binoculars is so popular among modelers: a directed gaze gives the whole scene an axis and the viewer involuntarily follows where the figure is looking. The placement of the figure can therefore steer the composition of a whole diorama.
The manufacturer recommends bonding with cyanoacrylate glue and treating it with an undercoat before painting. Wash the resin beforehand and cut the casting remains off. The hands at the face are the most sensitive place in the whole build: try them dry and paint the face before you finally seat the binoculars, otherwise you will not get a brush to the lips and the eyes. Suggest the glass of the binoculars with a drop of gloss varnish; a matte black surface looks dead.
In the package you will find the castings only, not cyanoacrylate glue, primer or paints.
