Photo-etched railings for Royal Navy ships in 1:350 scale from Flyhawk. The detail without which a warship model never looks finished.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched railings in 1:350 scale intended for models of Royal Navy ships of the Second World War period. On plastic kits the railings are either left out entirely or suggested by a disproportionately thick wall. Thin etch erases that difference and the model immediately gains a sense of scale, because the viewer's eye judges the size of a ship precisely by such elements.
The railings on the decks of warships were made of thin stanchions with wires or bars stretched between them. The number of runs differed according to the place on the ship and according to national practice, which is why photo-etched sets are made separately for the British, American and other navies. For a faithful model this difference matters as much as the shape of the funnel or the turrets.
Separate the etch with a sharp knife on a hard surface and never snap it off. First measure the length of the section with a paper strip and only then cut. Glue it with cyanoacrylate glue in tiny drops applied with a pin and work in short sections. Paint the railings only after they are glued in place, ideally by spraying from both sides. Finally check that they stand square to the deck.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace one. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
