A sizeable injection-molded plastic kit of the British heavy four-engine bomber Avro Lancaster in the Dambuster version in 1:48 scale from the maker HK Models. It is a large and demanding model with special parts for the famous attack bomb intended to destroy dams. The assembled model reaches impressive dimensions and is suitable rather for more experienced builders.
The Avro Lancaster was the best-known British heavy bomber of the Second World War, powered by four Merlin engines and able to carry a very heavy bomb load. The Dambuster version is tied to the famous raid on the German dams, in which specially modified machines dropped a spinning bomb that bounced over the water. It is precisely this famous operation that the modifications of the fuselage and the bomb bay of this release refer to.
Because of the size and the number of parts, plan the procedure in advance and prepare enough space. Finish and paint the richly broken-down interiors and the cockpit before the fuselage is closed, protect the extensive glazing with masking and glue the clear parts with a glue for clear parts. Use a liquid modeling cement on the plastic, and sand and prime the large surfaces before painting. Apply the bomber camouflage scheme with an airbrush and finish the special bomb and the stores at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
