About product

Vought F-8J Crusader – 3D-printed color interior 1:48 (Quinta Studio, for the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 kits)

A pre-painted, 3D-printed cockpit interior on a decal backing, intended for the Vought F-8J Crusader kits in 1:48 scale from Hasegawa and Hobby 2000. The set gives the instrument panel, the side consoles and the seat a photorealistic look without any need for painting or photo-etched parts.

The real subject

The Vought F-8 Crusader was an American carrier-based supersonic fighter. The F-8J version is a late modernized modification derived from the F-8E, with an improved wing boundary layer control system (BLC) and updated avionics; it was deployed by the navy above all in the period of the Vietnam War.

How the set works and how to use it

The individual parts – the instrument panel, the side consoles, the seat, the levers and other details – are released from the backing in water like an ordinary decal and settled onto the plastic parts of the cockpit. Unlike a flat decal they have a real 3D relief, so the interior looks deep and photorealistic. We recommend unifying the surface with gloss varnish, on which the element holds; do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, they would attack the printed resin. The small three-dimensional elements can be fixed with super glue (cyanoacrylate) if needed. Nothing has to be painted – the colors and the instrument lettering are already printed.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the F-8J Crusader 1:48 from Hasegawa or Hobby 2000
  • Modelers who want a detailed cockpit without laborious painting
  • Anyone interested in American carrier-based aircraft of the Cold War
  • Those who will appreciate a photorealistic result in a short time

This is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory for the cockpit. The Hasegawa or Hobby 2000 kit itself, glue, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
