Hughes MH-6J – TFace mask set, Eduard 1:48 (for the ICM model)

This product is not a helicopter model. It is a set of precisely cut self-adhesive masking templates that are stuck onto the glazing of a model so that the windows stay clean during spraying and the cabin frames get sharp, straight edges. The set is designed for the Hughes MH-6J helicopter model from ICM in 1:48 scale – the shapes of the templates match the glazing of that particular kit, and the model itself has to be bought separately.

What TFace means

At Eduard the TFace designation (two faces) is reserved for mask sets that contain masks for both sides of the glazing – outside and inside. An ordinary mask set covers only the outside. TFace lets you paint the cabin frames from inside as well, so that when you look into the cabin, bare plastic or the exterior shade does not show through a clear window. That matters especially on a helicopter of the Little Bird type, whose cabin is glazed on literally every side and whose interior is always in view.

Use

• Lift the mask carefully off the sheet (tweezers or the tip of a scalpel help) and stick it onto the relevant clear part.
• Press the edges down firmly so that paint cannot bleed under them – on curved surfaces, light warming and pressing with a cotton bud help.
• Stick the inner masks on before closing up the cabin and paint the frames from inside in the interior shade.
• Spray the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat creates a step at the edge of the mask.
• Remove the masks once the paint has dried, not after the finish has fully cured – they come off less easily then.

Who the set is for

For anyone who builds the ICM MH-6J in 1:48 scale and wants glazing with no overspray and cleanly painted frames on both sides. It saves hours of cutting masks from tape and the result is markedly cleaner. Use is simple and even a less experienced modeler will manage it.

The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model. It does not include the helicopter kit, paints or glue.
