An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Hobby 2000. It is a rebox: in the box you will find good plastic from the workshop of Arma Hobby completed with Hobby 2000's own decals. The Eastern Front edition concentrates on the Q and N versions in the colors and markings of the Soviet Air Force on the Eastern Front.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American fighter with an unusual layout: the engine sat behind the pilot in the middle of the fuselage and drove the propeller through a long shaft. That made it possible to install heavy cannon armament firing through the propeller hub and to fit nosewheel landing gear. In the West the Airacobra did not make much of a mark, but an enormous number of machines went to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program. There, thanks to its excellent performance at low and medium altitude and its heavy armament, it won great popularity and fought on the Eastern Front until the end of the war.
Plastic from a modern mold is pleasant to build. Join the parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and glue the clear cockpit parts with a cement made for the purpose. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Soviet Eastern Front schemes are brought to life by picking out the panel lines with a wash and by a patina matching field conditions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
