A decal sheet in 1:48 for Thunderbolts of the D and M versions, with two machines of the 61st Fighter Squadron of the 56th Group carrying the personal name Pengie.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47 was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. A radial engine with a turbocharger gave it enormous performance at altitude, and eight heavy machine guns in the wing made it a destructive weapon against both aircraft and ground targets. The type's speed in a dive was famous and many times decided a combat in the American pilot's favor.
The final M version came about in just under a hundred and fifty examples and was given a more powerful engine intended for the chase after fast targets. It was assigned practically exclusively to the 56th Fighter Group, so that it could pursue V-1 flying bombs and Messerschmitt Me 262 jets. Both machines on the sheet carry the fuselage letters HV, that is the 61st Fighter Squadron of that group, and the personal name Pengie in the fourth and fifth order.
The broad fuselage of the Thunderbolt offers a large smooth area, so the lettering settles easily, but for that very reason every imperfection of the base shows. Sand the surface with the finest paper, polish it and only then apply them. The serials on the rudder are narrow and break, so carry them over together with their paper backing. The paints and the kit are sold separately.
