This is not a kit but a photo-etched detail set from Eduard (a Czech manufacturer, Obrnice near Most) for the PBY-5A Catalina model in 1:48 scale. Steel means that the belts are made of steel (stainless) and are pre-painted, with a realistic metallic sheen to the buckles. Zoom is Eduard's line of selected color photo-etched parts: it holds mainly the seat belts and the instrument panel, that is, the most visible parts of the cockpit, and is a simplified subset of the larger photo-etched set.
The belts in the cockpit are right in front of the viewer, and a plastic kit often has none at all, or only suggests them in relief. Pre-painted steel photo-etched parts look like real straps with metal buckles and the cockpit comes alive at once. Steel also holds a bend better than softer brass, so a belt drapes nicely over the seat.
For builders of the Eduard or Revell Catalina in 1:48 who want to lift the cockpit detail quickly and without painting. The Zoom line is welcoming to less experienced modelers too, as it offers the most striking items (the belts, the panel) without a full photo-etched set.
The set contains photo-etched parts only. The kit, glue and a photo-etch bender are not included in the package.
