This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter represents the two-seat trainer version of the Soviet Su-15 interceptor, NATO code Flagon-G. The box contains gray plastic with engraved panel lines, clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.
The Su-15 was a twin-engine air defense interceptor intended to destroy high-altitude targets during the Cold War. The UM version is the two-seat trainer conversion with a tandem cockpit, which allowed pilots to be trained without the type losing its combat capability. The machine was characterized by its delta-like wing and powerful engines.
Use thin cement on the plastic joints and take care that the fuselage halves fit cleanly. A primer and an airbrush are the way to go; the metal and natural shades of Soviet aircraft stand out with a fine wash and a graded flattening of the surface.
