Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI - 3D interior decal (1:72, Quinta Studio)

A relief 3D-printed and pre-colored interior decal, not an aircraft kit. The set brings raised instrument panels, side panels and further detail to the cockpit of the Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI heavy fighter - all of it already colored, so laborious painting and photo-etched parts both fall away. It is shaped for the Beaufighter Mk.VI kits in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa, Hobby 2000 and MPM.

The real subject

The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine heavy and night fighter and attack aircraft of the Second World War. The Mk.VI version was powered by Bristol Hercules radial engines and served widely as a night fighter and for attacks on ground and naval targets.

How the 3D decal is used

• Paint the area in the cockpit with a dark base and polish it with a gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22); Quinta elements have no adhesive layer of their own and hold on exactly that gloss, so a matte base is a mistake.
• Cut the part out, soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing decal paper into place; on broken-up surfaces a drop of super glue helps.
• Do not use a decal softener or a decal setter, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin and will ruin the element. The finished interior can be unified at the end with a matte varnish.
