Exhaust nozzles for the F-4E Phantom II in 1:72 scale from Aires. A resin accessory set, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set, not an aircraft model. It replaces the exhaust nozzles of both engines with resin parts with a thin wall and an interior you can see into. That is precisely what injection-molded plastic cannot manage: a mold has to have a wall thick enough, so the edge of the nozzle looks like a pipe, and the inner structure tends to be only suggested. On the Phantom the nozzles are exceptionally conspicuous, because they sit side by side at the end of the fuselage and from behind they make up the whole silhouette. The manufacturer is the Czech brand Aires, which has been working on resin accessories for a long time.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was an American twin-engine combat aircraft with a two-man crew, characterized by a cranked wing and anhedral tailplanes. The E version received fixed gun armament in the nose, which the earlier variants lacked. The pair of afterburning jet engines was placed side by side in the fuselage.
The set is for modelers who build the Phantom in a small scale and want to remove the most conspicuous compromise of an injection mold. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic and needs a different glue.
It is not an aircraft model. The basic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
