HäT 1:72 German Schutztruppe (1914-1918) is a set of forty-four figures of German colonial units.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The package contains forty-four figures. Some of them are a kit: the officer has arms to be fitted on and the kneeling machine gunner is likewise made up from parts. The figures are unpainted. The subject is the German colonial protection force, the so-called Schutztruppe, which operated in Africa during the First World War.
The German colonial units were small but exceptionally tenacious. In East Africa, under the command of Colonel Lettow-Vorbeck, they managed to tie down British, Belgian and Portuguese forces many times their size for four whole years. The core was made up of African askaris led by German officers and noncommissioned officers. The characteristic mark of a European member of the force was a hat with a turned-up brim and khaki field equipment.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. Try the arms to be fitted on the officer and the machine gunner dry first. Khaki faded quickly in the tropics, so do not paint the formation uniformly but with a hint of bleached areas on the shoulders and on the hats. Dust on the boots and on the lower hem of the trousers will give the figures the truth of the African campaign.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
