HäT 1:72 Imperial Roman Command is a set of forty-four figures of legionary command with separate standards and shields.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from HäT. The box holds forty-four figures in seven poses: a centurion, a legionary and an auxiliary optio, a trumpeter and two standard bearers. The standards are enclosed separately, that is the eagle of the legion, the imperial image and the signum, and with them the shields. The plastic is unpainted and the parts are glued on separately.
The command of a legion rested on the centurions and their deputies. A centurion commanded a century, the optio stood behind the formation and kept the ranks straight, the trumpeter passed on the orders and the standard bearers held the points by which a unit took its bearings. The eagle of the legion was a sacred object: its loss meant a disgrace that a legion would try to put right even decades later.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. Sort the standards out in advance and decide who will carry which, as each has a different meaning. Paint the metal parts of the standards gold and add colored ribbons and wreaths. Standard bearers often wore an animal pelt over the helmet, which you catch with a dark base and a dry brush. Glue the shields on only after painting.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
