Russian infantry of the Napoleonic Wars in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Italeri. A set of figures for dioramas and tabletop games.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of figures of foot soldiers of the early nineteenth century. For historical figures 1:72 is the traditional choice of scale: a figure stands about twenty-five millimeters tall, so enough pieces fit in the box to build a real formation, and yet the figure is large enough for the equipment and the uniform to be made out on it. The Napoleonic period is rewarding for figure painters precisely because of the uniforms: the colors are rich, the facings and buttons pronounced, and the individual units differ from one another at first sight.
In the Napoleonic Wars the Russian infantry was numerically the strongest branch of the Russian army. It fought in close formations, where volley fire and the bayonet charge decided matters, and its stubbornness in defense was among the things every opponent had to reckon with. The uniform changed over the course of the period, so it pays to check which year the dress of the figures refers to.
First wash the figures in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the residues from manufacture. Sand down the mold seams, as they show at once on a uniform. Apply a primer before painting, since on a smooth surface the paint comes off when handled. Paint from dark to light and leave the faces to the end. With a larger number of identical figures work in groups, that is apply one color to all of them at once.
The figures come unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included unless stated otherwise.
