Tow cable ends for the model of the Hercules recovery vehicle in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of tow cable ends for the model of the Hercules recovery vehicle in 1:72 scale. The ends are the eyes and couplings that finish a cable and by which it is hung on the eyes of the vehicle. In a kit the cable is usually molded in one piece together with its ends as a rigid part, so it cannot be made to sag or be folded the way a real cable would lie.
With the ends separate you make the cable yourself from steel wire rope or braided line and lay it as you need: taut between vehicles in a scene, coiled on a fender or hung along the body. The sag that comes from the weight of the cable is a detail the eye notices sooner than the shape of the end itself.
In 1:72 scale these are very small parts. Separate them over a tray with a raised edge so they do not fly off, and work with tweezers. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose thin wire rope, so that it does not look like a hawser in this scale, and bond its end into the coupling with super glue. The exact procedure follows the manufacturer's instructions. Paint the ends before the cable is threaded, as a finished joint is harder to reach with a brush.
For modelers who build vehicles with a tow cable and want it to be flexible instead of a molded part. Paints, glue and wire rope are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
