The figure 1:72 Waffen SS Grenadier with rifle - WWII captures a German grenadier in winter dress with a rifle. A resin casting for the small scales.
Responsibility details are not available.
The grenadier in winter dress, leaning on his rifle with his other hand on his hip, is cast in fine polyurethane resin. Although this is a genuinely small figure at this scale, it has the folds of the outer garment and the knitted gloves drawn out. An optional solution for the headgear is enclosed as well, so the look can be adapted to the scene.
During the Second World War German grenadier units went into action alongside armored hardware, and from the winter of 1941 they faced frosts on the Eastern Front that they were not prepared for. The layering of clothing the figure shows, that is a blouse and trousers pulled on under a camouflage outer piece, was therefore a typical improvised solution. The bolt-action Kar 98k repeating rifle the soldier leans on remained the basic weapon of the infantry throughout the war.
A small figure forgives little, so work with heavily thinned paint and build the shade up in layers. First a filler primer, then the base tone of the clothing, a dark glaze into the folds and finally a dry brush on the edges. Suggest the camouflage pattern with vague patches rather than an exact drawing; at a size this small that looks more convincing.
The figure is unpainted, without a base and without groundwork.
