An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw. V Panther medium tank in 1:76 scale from the Vintage Classics range by Airfix. This is a reissue of a classic mold whose roots reach back to the early 1960s — the kit therefore has simpler breakdown and the character of its day, yet it still makes up into a likeable model some 77 mm long, suited to beginners and to collectors of nostalgic Airfix.
The Panther was developed as an answer to the Soviet T-34 and reached the fighting units in the spring of 1943. It combined a powerful long 75 mm gun, sloped armor and decent mobility. Once the early technical troubles had been cured it became one of the most feared tanks of the Second World War and a favorite machine of German tank crews.
Part the pieces off cleanly, cement them with a thin modeling glue for plastic and sand the joints. On an older mold it pays to clean up the mold seams. A primer makes the base, after which you lay the German three-color camouflage or a uniform dark yellow on with an airbrush. Bring the running gear out with a dark wash and dust pigments for the look of muddy tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
