A twelve-piece set of cats made by 3D printing technology. It is not a model and not a kit, but a diorama accessory that is added to a finished scene. A cat is a rewarding element above all in civilian and urban scenery: on a windowsill, on a low wall, on a pile of rubble, by the door of a small shop, on the bed of a cart or among crates in a store. Twelve pieces mean that you can afford to place them around a scene more than once and at the same time keep a reserve for further dioramas. The particular poses, colorings and the height of the individual figures are not stated here, so we do not claim them.
In this size cat figures have their thinnest places in the tail, the ears and the legs — exactly where the print supports tend to be. Separate them with a cut, not by breaking: with a scalpel, or with very fine nippers, and polish the remainder off with a sanding sponge. The layering of the print tends to be apparent on a smooth back; a few strokes of fine abrasive are enough to level it. Before painting, wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Glue them onto a base or into a scene with super glue, ideally with just a drop applied with a pin — an excess of glue is hard to hide on small paws.
A cat is more interesting to paint than most small animals, because almost every real pattern is irregular. Start with a thin primer and a uniform base tone, and only then draw the markings of the fur: tabby stripes, white socks or patches are done with a fine brush over the dried base, not the other way around. A dry brush in a lighter tone brings out the back and the head, while a dark glaze settles under the chin and between the legs. Do the eyes at the very end with one touch of the point of the brush. Thin the paint so that thin layers form — thick paint floods the fine relief of the fur. A matte varnish at the end evens the surface out; leave the eyes glossy.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
