A golden warm yellow from the fantasy acrylic range for the airbrush. A 17 ml dropper bottle with the viscosity already set at the factory.

Gold Yellow sits at the darker end of the yellow scale. It carries a golden, slightly brownish undertone, so it suits heraldic surfaces, the decorative hems of cloaks, parchment, brass fittings and the lit areas of wood. Compared with the standard opaque yellow in the brush bottle it has a lower viscosity and more finely ground pigment, so that it passes through the nozzle without seizing.
It is pre-thinned at the factory, so it goes into the cup exactly as it pours from the bottle. When the nozzle starts to close up in an overheated room, a few drops of airbrush thinner or of a flow improver will help; plain water, by contrast, speeds up the breakdown of the film and reduces adhesion. The base is even more important. Yellow pigment covers worst of all and over a dark surface it dulls to ocher. So lay down a light base first, a white or sand surfacer, and only then two to three genuinely thin coats.
The dried film is flexible but soft, and on a figure that gets handled it will wear through sooner or later. Seal it with varnish: matte will even out the sheen of the whole model, gloss will prepare a smooth surface for decals. Sealing also belongs before shading with a wash, otherwise the solvent will bite into the paint underneath. Add an airbrush cleaner to your equipment as well, because acrylic dried in the needle will no longer come out with water.
It also works as an underlayer beneath a gold glaze. The metallic sheen only comes from the layer on top, but a warm yellow underneath gives it a depth that metallic pigment alone cannot offer.
