The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch is a braced high-wing monoplane famous for taking off and landing on ground where other aircraft have no business. That is made possible by a large wing with leading-edge slats along the whole span, long springing landing gear legs and a glazed cabin with a view in every direction. After the Second World War the machine was built in Czechoslovakia as well, under the designation K-65 Cap (the Czech name means the same as the German Storch, that is, Stork), and went on serving for observation, liaison and training.
A set of masks in 1:48 scale for spraying the national insignia and the stencils of one postwar Czechoslovak scheme. The masks are cut to the kit by Tamiya, so their shape and placement match its parts. The enclosed instructions show the layout of the individual elements.
Insignia sprayed through a mask have no carrier film, so no glossy outline forms on the surface and the finish stays equally flat all over the model. The sequence is fixed: finish the base camouflage and let it dry first, and only then seat the mask on a smooth, degreased surface and press the edges down firmly so that paint does not run under them. Spray at a right angle, in thin coats and rather from a distance; a heavy coat creeps under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat is not yet fully hard, and pull the film off at an angle over the edge rather than straight up. On a multicolor marking, keep to the order of shades given in the instructions and give the paint time between coats.
