A light green shade to the German aviation standard RLM 82 from the Mr. Color lacquer range, a 10 ml bottle. The color of the late camouflage schemes.
Responsibility details are not available.
Number 82 belonged to the system of aviation finish standards used by the German air ministry. The light green with this designation appeared in the last phase of the war as part of a new pair of shades for the upper surfaces, which replaced the earlier gray-green combinations. It was a solution for machines meant to disappear against the landscape in low flight, not against the sea.
In practice the green most often meets a brown-violet counterpart in the schemes of fighters from 1944 and 1945. The transitions between the fields tended to be sprayed softly, and hard edges appeared rather on field repairs. Given the disrupted supplies toward the end of the war, the real finishes differed from factory to factory, so a period photograph of a particular machine weighs more than a universal scheme.
The binder is a lacquer, it is thinned with thinners of this brand at a ratio of roughly 1:1 to 2:1 according to the thickness and it is sprayed with a gun. For soft camouflage transitions lower the pressure and bring the nozzle closer; for stripes and mottling, thin the paint further instead and work in fine passes, otherwise the edge scatters into a mist.
The paint can be applied with a brush only with the addition of a retarder at roughly a quarter of the volume. The dried film is hard and ready for masking as well as for subsequent washes. The bottle holds 10 ml.
Camouflage shades differ in practice according to the maker of the airframe and the condition of the finish, so a small deviation from a table is not a fault. Stir the pigment before use.
