This resin detail set from the Czech maker Aires serves to detail the landing gear bays of the model of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter fighter in its D and F variants (the early version) in 1:32 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces the corresponding parts of the kit with faithfully cast parts carrying rich internal detail.
With the gear down, the wheel wells are among the most visible places on a model, and plastic kits often simplify them. The castings bring the structure of piping, wiring and stiffeners which, once painted and weathered, raise the realism of the landing gear section considerably.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue and separate them from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Fill any gaps, prime the set and bring out the detail with a wash and dry-brushing. Check the fit in your particular kit before you glue it in.
