This set from the maker Art Scale contains self-adhesive painting masks for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb fighter in 1:32 scale. It is neither a kit nor decals but a masking set. The masks come in the express fit form, that is preshaped exactly for the frames of the canopy so that they stick on quickly and precisely. This is the one-sided variant, meant for masking the glazing from the outside; it makes it easier to spray the frames and the boundaries between the glass and the structure cleanly and crisply.
Masking the canopy is one of the most demanding steps in building an aircraft model. Preshaped masks replace the laborious cutting of tape and ensure crisp, repeatable edges. After spraying they peel off easily.
Degrease the glazing before masking. Place the masks on the frames exactly, with tweezers, and press them down. Spray thin coats so that the paint does not creep under the edge. Remove the mask while the finish is still freshly dried.
This is a masking accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
