This set from Art Scale contains self-adhesive painting masks for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit or a decal sheet but a masking set. The masks are of the express fit type, that is shaped exactly to the frames of the canopy. This is the double-sided variant: besides the outer masking it also contains pieces for masking the frames from the inside of the cockpit, so once the interior and the exterior are sprayed the frames look faithful from both viewpoints.
Masking the canopy is one of the most demanding steps of a build. A double-sided set lets you paint the frames in the right inner and outer colors, which shows above all on an open or a backlit canopy. Pre-shaped masks take the place of laborious cutting of tape.
Degrease the glazing. Stick the inner masks on before building the cockpit, so that the inner frame is sprayed in the interior color; the outer masks go on only for the final coat. Spray thin coats and take the mask off while the paint is still fresh.
This is a masking accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
