S042 is a dark brown paint with a red cast, that is, a shade named after mahogany. On models it suits anywhere wood is meant to appear: the decks and hulls of ships, wooden propeller blades, gun stocks, crates and furniture in dioramas or wooden display bases. It will also serve as a warm brown base under the drawing of wood grain and as a color for the imitation of leather and old straps.
The paint is supplied in a can with a spray head, so it is ready for immediate use. You need neither thinner nor an airbrush and the cleaning falls away; in exchange, the width of the cone and the amount of paint cannot be changed other than by the distance and the speed of the movement. The spray is therefore grateful on continuous areas and for a base coat, less so on fine transitions and small details.
First let the can come up to room temperature and shake it for at least a minute. Always try the spray on an offcut. Spray from a distance of roughly twenty to thirty centimeters, in several thin passes and with the hand always moving; a heavy coat runs and can damage the surface of the plastic. Work in a ventilated space and cover what is around you, as sprayed paint carries further than you expect.
The spray is supplied on its own. The model, the primer, the clear coat, masking material and the tools are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
