A purple metallic shade prepared for an airbrush. In weak coats it gives a smooth continuous film with no traces of a brush.

The spraying version of the Crimson Magenta shade is aimed at modelers who are after a perfectly even metal surface. The paint is formulated to pass through a nozzle without binding, and on a part it leaves a continuous film in which no strokes are apparent. That is precisely the difference against applying it with a brush: the metal particles spread evenly over the whole area and the sheen then glides smoothly over the surface, with no stripes and no sharp transitions.
Several weak coats give a deep raspberry purple with a metallic sheen that acts like a painted surface on large parts. The saturation grows step by step, so it is easy to stop at the moment the shade looks best. With a narrowed stream a soft light can also be led along the edges, or conversely the surroundings of the joints darkened, without a visible boundary arising; a transition like that is practically unachievable with a brush.
Metallic paints are more demanding on the cleanliness of the tools than smooth opaque shades, because settled pigment in the nozzle shows up as a grainy spraying. It therefore pays to rinse the airbrush out right after the work. The ground has to be smooth; every groove or imprint is accentuated under a thin metal film. On a finished surface it is right to reach for a protective varnish only after thorough drying out, or the sheen may go cloudy. The package holds a single shade; the supplementary levels of the same tone are separate products. Anyone just starting will do well to try the spraying out first on a tin can or on a waste part and only then to aim at the model.
