What the Xpress Color line can do

Xpress Color is an acrylic line by Vallejo built for a single coat. The paint has a thin consistency and once applied it draws into the hollows by itself: in the folds of cloth, between the links of armor and under the edges of plates it darkens, whereas on the raised areas it stays thin and light. The base color and the shading thus arise at once and the modeler does not have to layer the shade laboriously. The paint is semi-transparent, so the result depends on the ground: the lighter the base, the brighter and cleaner the tone.

The Templar White shade

Templar White stands at the light end of the palette. It suits white cloaks, tunics, hoods and other cloth parts, where a fully covering white would look hard and flat. It is exactly with white that the self-shading is most useful, because a white area without depth merges into one patch and stops being legible.

Application tips

• It is applied with a brush; the paint is ready to use and does not have to be thinned.
• Shake the container properly before work, as the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Work on a light base, and with a white shade best of all on a white one.
• Load plenty of paint and lead it in one stroke, as going over a tacky area repeatedly will smear the shadow.
• Draw the surplus built up in a hollow off with a dry brush before the paint has dried.

A container of paint as described is supplied. A figure, brushes, a ground and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. For thinning, cleaning the tools and storage, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
