This detail set from the Italian maker Royal Model brings fine photo-etched metal and resin parts for refining a model of the famous Bofors 40 mm automatic antiaircraft gun in 1:35 scale. The set replaces simplified plastic elements with scale-faithful parts, seats, sights, grilles, platforms and small fittings, and is fitted to a kit that has been built. It is not a model of the weapon but an upgrade.
The Bofors 40 mm was a Swedish automatic antiaircraft gun that in the Second World War and long afterward became one of the most widespread light antiaircraft weapons in the world. It was used by the land and naval forces of many countries. Its open construction with a quantity of small mechanisms makes a model an ideal object for photo-etched and resin detail.
Wash the mold release off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bend the fine photo-etch over the edge of a ruler. Apply a primer before painting; bring the small mechanisms out with a wash and a dry brush so that the detail stays legible.
This is a supplementary detail set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
